The Nuances of Mismatched Expectations

X is a beautiful, sweet and intelligent woman: one of the few who are endowed in all departments!
Despite all of her obvious blessings, she is enormously unhappy in relationships.
Like the sumptuous dinner that is left untouched, she is wondering where the fault line lie.
I wish I could tell her that the matter is the high jump expectations.
If only she would lower the bar a little bit sooner!

Hi Posekyere, I have an issue with lowering the bar! As a woman I don't think one has to lower the bar - after all one should set standards shouldn't they? Those standards should be your bar. However I think there is a huge difference between high expectations and realistic expectations and some of us really need to work on the realistic part of things.

interesting...

argument could be made that interested parties should up their jumps some more too...

ok...so just tell her and damn the consequences...she might just...you know!?

I love short pieces like this. It goes straight to the point with clean, crisp language, and seems to tell an everyday story about an everyday person from which we can learn everyday lessons, or which we can simply enjoy. I know a girl like that, and after all the historical evidence and statistics, she thinks she is all right and all her exes the people at fault.

Hi Denise,

If you knew the person in question, you would also definitely have issues with her bars.
Standards yes, but how many men have the pole vaults to clear the the multiple bars set by some of the sisters.
I little bit of realism is the secret ingredient!

Hi Nosisi,

This gal is a family friend.
I am already gone into the perpetual tango. The bars were lowered for me considerably so I had to jump in order to claim my prize before the more athletic ones could come running!

Nana, do me a favour.

Continue to encourage her.
Some sisters don't give historical evidence and statistics a hoot!
But you know, history seldom lies.

They say that what goes up must come down. So stand around, for one of these days when no one is looking she will take the bar down herself

Hi Posekyere,
Very nice piece! I think you have to tell her directly that her high expectations may be the problem...well, that is....if she really wants to know where the fault lies.

Thanks, Abena,

I have tried to share my concerns in the dribbles of harmless parables and proverbs.
So far, she doesn't seem to be getting it.
I guess she will eventually figure it out in her own time.
