The Dilemma Of A Married Man

The opportunity cost of being a married man, I have always thought, is the beautiful and juicy low-hanging fruit in Eden which you are forbidden from tasting.
My sincere assumption has been that most people consider marriage to be a permanence of the commitment between two people coupled with the blissful disallowance of any form of conjugal parallelism at all cost.
However from what I am seeing and hearing around me, I am fully persuaded that this unfortunately is not the reality of many married people.
So many married men and women are no longer sure of the necessity of commitment to their spouses. The ease with which many have abandoned ship is simply cowardly.
I would rather people stayed away from marriage than rush into something they are not willing to honour and fight for.
I pray that this persuasion of mine is not considered a prudish banter.
To me it is the right thing to do.
Cheers.

A former lecturer of mine in his late 50's told me why he never got married; he cannot commit to one woman for the rest of his life. Maybe people should learn to do that instead of rushing into marriage and desecrating its sanctity.

Yaaaaaahoooooo!. Good for you, Kwegyirba. You are a serious sticker for 'the proper' type ofmarriage.
Who knows, I may be sending my brother to come and knock on the door of your beautiful heart.
Like you, he is a really great soul.
Plus should the two of you get tied, you will be tied forever.
Hahaha!
Bless you my dear KAO!!

Hmm, Human Nature v Rules of Proper Behaviour. It was never a fair fight, no?

Geez NY.
Hmmmm. Fair fight? Is that how you see it?
Human nature, in my opinion, is selfishness and selfishness is nothing less than treating others as you want to be treated. As banal as that may sound that is the only way to preserve self-interest. Human nature is therefore promoted via taking actions that ensures that the interest of others are guarded as well. No?

Then, we are not at cross-purposes. Human Nature will make 'Marrieds' want to cheat; Rules make them not actually follow through. And I was just saying Human (Base) Nature usually wins. I am not praising, judging or taking sides.

Logical, I reckon!
What was I thinking questioning the angle of a legal buff? Lol
Neutrality is your noble trait, my friend. This is the second time I am pointing out this beautiful skill of yours. I admire you for that.

Yes Kwegyirba!
That, I suppose, is the refined version of what I wrote. Lol
Thanks in advance for the comfort in my heart.

Anyone who thinks your 'banter' prudish clearly needs a rethink.

I'm really appalled at the behaviour of some married men and women of our day....our culture doesn't help at all.

I think we attach so much importance to marriage that it becomes an imposition at a certain age. You are simply expected to get married and get it over with. Like it were some kind of project deadline.
Truly sad.

Thanks Enkay!
It appears to me that you have thought about this subject more than I have.
I for one will try as much as I can to be truthful to myself and if possible influence others as well.
You certainly have a good heart.
Bless you my dear!!!

hmmmmmmmmmm

marriage could certainly be hell.

and why stay in when the noose could just do you a dangling death hang in-between life and death!

i dread any such outcome and i won't stay one life/peace threatening tease. i've seen enough to warn me!

marriage after all is an association fundamentally (with some kind of emotions that could easily play tricks when not checked)

hmmmmmmmmmmm!

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm, Nov.
I certainly cannot argue with you on what you have personallly seen.
My only concern is: what do you do then?
Just give up on something simply because you've encountered a horific version of it?

So true. We must become the change we wish to see...
